Why This Carbon Cycle Video Works ♻️

We've seen firsthand that most carbon cycle instruction treats it as pure memorization: plants take in CO₂, animals release it, decomposers recycle it. That's technically accurate, but missing the huge impact. Why does this cycle matter? How do we know it's out of balance? What does biology have to do with climate change? Our video answers these questions by following carbon through actual reservoirs and quantifying real fluxes. Students learn that photosynthesis captures 120 gigatons of carbon annually—but cellular respiration and decomposition release nearly the same amount back. In a balanced system, these inputs and outputs match. They'll also explore how humans have impacted this and caused things to go out of balance.
